Chiefly letters, 1851-1877; bills; receipts; invoices; bills of lading; legal papers and agreements; orders and drafts. Letterpress copybooks, 1850-1852 and 1859-1861, contain copies of outgoing letters. The papers relate to the distribution of hides, lead, copper, and cotton from Brownsville, Texas and New York City. Later papers are principally those of James Stillman, Charles Stillman's son.
